Year of Manufacture *: 2003 Engine Size and Code *: 1.8tdci ( Optional ) Scanner Used: dec
Vehicle had been suffering with intermitent cutting out but was towed to us as a non-start.Fault codes present P1631,P0191,P0251,P1211,P2288 and P2291,all codes relevant to ford tsb regarding high pressure pump.Removed fuel filter and sure enough that was full of metal particles. On live data and pico initially live data would show fuel pressure rising to max pressure on cranking and would stay there until pressure was released at pressure sensor or injector pipes. After a few more cranks high pressure pump gave up-it basically seized.Customer insisted on fitting 2nd hand pump allthough i made it clear injectors could be damaged as well and it might still not start. We have fitted 2nd hand pump and still no start. Not going to waste any more time on it at the moment but am curious as to what could cause it to go maximun pressure on cranking(still doing the same as original pump). When it does this the injectors can be heard to be pulsing to try and relieve the pressure but pressure stays constant at about 1400 bar.Could faulty injectors cause this.
