i am travelling the mr sefton route the same direction as your thinking as well mark, what have they changed relating to the origional engine at the moment just concentrating on the astra
one of the difficultys as you have spotted mark is the management system it is edc15c7 not as you would expect edc16 this is because it is the last of the astra g vans, engine is def a z17dtl van is a 56 plate as for fuel pumps and fuel pressure the fuel pump is cp3 and it produces 330 bar on cranking dropping back to 240 on prolonged cranking, will produce 1300 bar tested at the back of pump.should be more than enough to trigger the injectors on an older system like this.
cam and crank are in sync, seem to have miss placed the vauxhall disc so am struggling for good diagram and pin out, if any one has a good diagram they could e mail me much appreciated
surely an engine is an engine once the peripherals have been swapped and coded. it may take a couple of days to check who swapped what and when at the moment they cannot remember whether they fitted the engine or someone else
hoping they fitted an edc16 engine requiring an edc15c7 crank or camshaft or something simple like that.i remember the old days thing were simple(boring though)
on a personal note tony, that old wardrobe is standing in his own workshop these days, doing all right(he did spend time on the vectra when he was still here as baffled as i am)never know he may reply to the post, havnt spoken to him about astra yet
may be a couple of days till i have some news will keep you posted
again thanks for the input
