Incredible expense and constantly missed deadlines and targets. And when the focus of the mission for a while was the diversity of the crew rather than the mission itself, eff that.

When we finally land on the moon again, there will be great focus on the diversity of the crew and a big debate over who will be the first one on the ground. Unless some other country gets there first.

The first trip to the moon (Apollo 8) was one of the most daring acts ever, and it worked. I don't think many people know (or care) how incredibly risky that was.

Of course they highlighted the diversity in the NYT story:
