Higher cap may let me itemize and thus lower my Maryland tax bill
Maryland lets you itemize only if you itemize on your federal return. With the high standard deduction and SALT (and no mortgage), we don't usually itemize. That means we get the low standard deduction in Maryland and pay more state and local tax. But with the higher SALT cap, maybe we will get over the federal standard deduction and itemize on the state return, too. Lower state and local tax, lol.
