Strange view from someone who was convinced we were going to be promoted at this time last year. We have undoubtedly significantly strengthened and improved central midfield. (Forwards and defence - little change).

No need to get carried away about apparent lack of structure any more than there was to be excited about an emphatic win against a terrible Sheffield Weds side last week.

One thing that was apparent from the way we started yesterday- MM hasn’t told the players to play defensively- above all not to lose. Very positive attitude from the off. And we tried to play mainly on the floor.

Bear in mind that all pre season games including yesterday have been against teams from at least nominally a higher level than we will meet in the league.

The squad look fit and ready to go. I won’t be drawing any conclusions about the chances of where we might finish in the league until around 3 or 4 league games in - around the end of this month.
