In one way, you could argue that 64 teams is better than 48 as you can have 16 groups of four with the top two in each going through but there would be so many "dead rubbers" in groups of four where only two are going through.
The problem is that the group stages would take so long with 64 especially as 2030 has the added complication of three games being played in South America. There will be six teams who are probably going to need the best part of a fortnight to acclimatise once they eventually get to Europe.
