Apparently, Angela Rayner's solicitor sent a letter to HMRC on Monday demanding that they speed up a decision and she got her clearance within 24 hours. I have seen cases where HMRC have quoted 85 WEEKS as the expected time for a reply and they tell you not to contact them before that date as they won't respond to reminders/chasing letters. Twelve months for a reply is commonplace nowadays. My record is just over three years for a letter rejecting an appeal against something being filed a day late because it took longer to deal with because of lockdown.
