I agree with: In light of HMRC’s decision, Drury is calling for a wholesale review of the tax penalty regime as it has become a form of ‘taxation on genuine mistakes’.

I also think HMRC should be transparent so people understand the rules around penalties and see they are fair and people in similar circumstances are sure they are dealt with the same way. Just don’t think it has anything specifically to do with Angela. But she is the person being singled out for a much wider issue. The original complaint was about the time it took. She could have made a rod for her own back by possibly being given a penalty.
