Drink plenty of plain water & avoid inactivity when your sugar levels are high - opposite when low (sugary drinks & take it easy).
50 is very high - my wife ended up in a&e first time her sugars reached 30!
The finger prick meters are good but a lot of faffing about compared to a Libre sensor. A little disc you wear on your arm & it connects to your phone by bluetooth & then your phone can send the detail to any number of other phones over the internet. Gives constant monitoring & you can set low & high levels when it will set an alarm on all phones ringing. Each phone can set their own levels or turn off the alarms. Available on NHS.
