Coming from New England, I can as a kid remenber when the shotgun you shot was related to the income you had. All the men had shotguns. The L C Smith was the gun of the middle class while the other mentioned were guns of Doctors, Lawyors, etc. Savages,Stevens,Bakers were for the mill worker type. Much like the auto you were driving.
