I was speaking of Alliant American Select. You won't find any data for Hodgdon Clays anywhere near 7,000 psi.

If you feel the need for 1 oz of shot, American Select also has data in the 7,000 psi range with several component combinations.

As for 7625, I am suspicious of how consistent those low pressures could be. It is incredibly dirty in the loads I've tried, which leads me to believe it's going to be erratic.

I suppose it depends on what you are trying to gain with mild and/or low pressure loads. I am primarily concerned with recoil. Recoil is what splits stocks and makes these lighter guns unpleasant to shoot. On the other hand, if a twist or Damascus gun is going to let go at 7,000 psi, there is no reason to think it won't at 4,900 psi. It's just a question of time.

That said, now that I know Jent is using Clays in his twist-barreled guns, I'll be sure to stand behind him!
