Tom: It appears to me that you have received alot of good and pertinent info to which I can add very little. Some comments about the other postings are: the straight stock is not unusual if you remember that a lot of the vintage shooters came from a pigeon shooting background where two shots were allowed and many used SxS double trigger guns with straight stocks. Most ofetn the straight stocks appear on early SBT guns. Poor patterns (due to suspect ammo)were minimized through the use of chokes that today are characterized as extra full often times exceeding .040 inches of constriction. As said elsewhere, if your action is tight and your barrel is in good shape the gun will outlast you shooting modern trap loads as much as you wish. I have worn out two reloading presses shooting these Elsies over the years with out a breakage or malfunction while I have seen some modern trap guns come apart on the trap line. So have fun!
