Thanks much for your reply. 56? Gracious! I'd guess that's why I've had no luck finding any reference to "L C Smith Eagle Trap" in any of my inquiries and in books. I would love to dance and sing over this, but how do I confirm that the shotgun I have with me is actually one of those 56? And who could appraise it if it really is that rare- I'd have to insure it asap. And most certainly I'd have to stop taking it to the turkey shoots and that breaks my heart, cause that gun finds the target by itself and fires dead on- won 5 rounds out of 7. I looked at the page you suggested and did not see my exact shotgun, but I'll try to take pics and see if I can post them where they can be seen.
