Thank you for clearing that up, SGT!! And thanks to all who responded. There is indeed a number 2 on the second set (26") barrels and nothing on the first set (30") barrels. I have lined up both sets of barrels side by side and they appear to be about the same but I have not measured the distance between the lugs and the end of the barrels as suggested. No real reason to interchange foreirons now except the one which goes with the short barrels has two hairline cracks - one on each side at the end where it fits into the receiver. There is no movement in the wood and it appears to be solid - should I worry about it or just enjoy and take it easy on the old girl?
