    Your forends may be numbered "1" and "2", as should the barrels; or the second barrel set and foreiorn will be numbered "2" with no number "1" on the original set. These irons are NOT interchangeable and each is fitted to the specific set to which it is numbered. Sometimes a two-barrel set will have only one forend; but in that case the single foreiron was made to fit both barrel sets. If your locks are cocked, make sure the "J" spring is properly aligned in the foreiron hanger lug and press the iron into position. Many times the spring tension/resistance will be stiff; but that is normal. Main concern; do not attempt to install the foreiron with hammers in the fired/down position.
