    Thank you both for the excellent information.

    Well, the 25 to 35-coat thing does partially explain why high-end guns cost so darn much. Six weeks is a long time in anyone's schedule. I'm sadly not anywhere near as patient as that. With the Warthog kit, I can generally do a pretty fair job in about a week. The slowest part of the job (aside from a slow, careful, mar-free dissasembly/reassembly) is getting the slackum oil to set up enough for the next coat. I don't know if I'm waiting long enough between coats or if I'm using to much or little the pore filler provided in the kit. I've also noticed that relative humidity can be an issue too.

    Thankfully, Colorado is usually fairly dry.
