Ned, in the hands of a competent gunsmith to clean your shotgun, you needn't worry. It is right and proper I believe to have a professional do it, especially an upper graded gun such as yours.
Cost is a matter of perspective. A little now will could save you alot in the future. I somewhere read once 'an ounce of preventative medicine is worth a pound of cure'.
