    Thomas before you take the locks off use a sharpie pen and make a cocking indicator on each lock (mark a line on the hammer pin on each lock, it is the largest one at the front of the lock plate). Then try cocking the gun while watching the line, you will be able to determine if the hammer is being turned by the cocking rod. Also you will be able to see how far it is turning. If both hammers are moving the same amount, it is possible that something is interfering with the sear, or it may be a replacement and is too long. Ain't old guns fun? Jim
