Thanks Jim, that is a good reminder regarding the fact that all of the shotguns marked WILD FOWL were not necessarily military shotguns. I believe that the research indicated that only 8 were marked WILD FOWL according to the ledgers with the caveat that there are probably more out there as anecdotal evidence suggests. I recently purchased a Rochester Ordnance Smith (ROS) Field Grade with the flaming bomb ordnance mark on the barrel flats that fall into the ser# range of the ROS guns. It appears to be a Featherweight from the shape and size of the barrel lug (Have only seen pictures waiting for it to arrive) but I will be sending you a request for a letter soon! I am posting a photo of the barrel flats with the flaming bomb mark in hope of collecting other images of other ROS marked shotguns for comparison. If anyone has photos of their military marked barrel flats that they are willing to post here or send to my personal email at dmdean4@yahoo.com I would appreciate it.
