Thanks Judith Yes, that's the right family. Bertha was at the St John the Baptist Mission Home, Monmouthshire in 1881 and William was born a couple of years later. He was then baptised back in Woodbury (where John Tucker was born according to the 1881 census). We wondered whether Elizabeth and John stayed in Woodbury after 1884 (when they were mentioned in the newspaper articles) but have been so far unable to locate either of them until Elizabeth is recorded in Leyland in 1921. Also, yes, the only way of confirming the 1930 death would be via the cert. Would still be good to fill in the elusive gap years though. Take care Carol
