After so many years, we've found a possibility re Exeter Henry. On Findmypast-Victoria Coastal Passenger Lists. ''Harry Force b 1852. Left Plymouth in May 1876 and arrived Adelaide Aug.1876-skilled labourer on Immigrant ship Oaklands. A bonus was a description of the voyage, including passenger list, on 17/8/76 in an Adelaide newspaper (Trove.nla) Also came across a regular item in the papers' Long lost families;(from memory) in 1894 there was an entry ' Forse (Henry)baker and confectioner left Plymouth 12 years back to go to Australia, last known to be in dQueensland. Mother longs for news'This is no doubt cousin Henry from Plymouth. In 1884 There was unclaimed post for him in Rockhampton, where ha had lived at first. Heart breaking, but common, I suspect. Thanks again to Judith for her input. |
