Re: Henry Forse
Hi, again. The gist of my cousin's finding is that Anna Maria ( daughter of a seaman-- foreign????n) anglizied her name to Mary Ann, and became a Williams and then a Furneaux. Lilian Maud born Feb 28 1875, baptised march 17 d of Henry and Anna Marie, 2 Gaskin Street, Plymouth. Baker.Baker's have to get up early. Perhaps Henry wanted pastures new and different ? If the marriage was a shot gun affair, perhaps she miscarried??? They were young (by today's standards) so perhaps it didn't work out.Divorce was too expensive, wasn't it, so this ws a solutio. ageed or possibly not. On Ancestry I found photos of Henry & Bridget, their gravestone, and an account by Bridget's sister of the voyage on Scottish ???. On Findmypast there were several docs with images of original docs. We know from ADM 139 that Exeter Henry was under 5 ft in 1867, had light brown hair & gray eyes, fresh complexion and scar on r eyebrow.. Australian Henry seems to be sandy( perhaps the fading of the photograph) My Mum's cousin said there was a lot of red hair in the Forses. Many went to Canada. I met a lovely young woman on line and then in St Ives, who was a Forse descendant. Auburn hair! THe marriage lines FMP seem to have Aussie Henry's signature, and ADM 139 has Exeter Henry, the same.'s signature. They are not, as far as I can see the same But I'm keeping an open mind.
