These paintings clearly show the simple white dress / tunic of the Colobium Sindonis, and the embroidered mantle that was specially made of Victoria (as George IV's had at this stage, left the Royal Collection).
I wonder, along with Edward VII's Mantle, whether Victoria's remains or has since been dispersed from the collection.
Does anyone have any texts or information to indicate whether or not these paintings are accurate in portraying the Queen without a Supertunica, and if so, why Victoria opted not to wear this symbol of Sovereignty and Kingship at her coronation?
