To clarify, I was referring as how they are listed in the Nielsen PPM ratings. Perhaps my mind is a little foggy...I thought WBBM-AM/WCFS-FM were listed together due to the FM simulcast.
WCBS-AM 880 in New York was a historic station. It's shameful Audacy decided to blow it up for ESPN. Audacy badly needs the money and now New York has one all-news station, WINS-AM/1010 and WINS-FM 92.3 FM.
1010 WINS is a historic all-news station. The issue is it focuses nearly all of its resources on the five boroughs of New York. "You Give Us 22 Minutes, We Give You The World." Its format was designed for very short attention spans. WCBS-AM had interviews and more in-depth reporting. WCBS-AM or as it was known, has a far-reaching signal. WINS-AM has a directional signal which is horrible at night and in key areas. The FM signal helps, but it's fortunate this station streams.
I can see Audacy removing news programming from WBBM-AM/780 at some point. As for WSCR-AM/670, there is room on the FM dial in Chicago for them.
