For the record I've never had any issue using the older 3/4" bore master, on any of the three cars I've converted to 83+ front brakes.
I've only now upgraded to the 83 and up 7/8" bore master since I made the switch to power brakes.
My Isuzu Impulse front calipers are even larger than the 83+ and they worked fine with the 3/4" master.
