Heres past history: origonal master cyl was leaking onto carpet. Replaced with remain - lasted about a monbth - replaced with another reman - lasted maybe 2 months, replaced with new aftermarket - that was roughly 6 years ago.
Now I've never been able to KEEP a high firm pedal. Ill bleed till no air bubbles anywhere - pedal can be high and firm (moves an inch or so of dead space then its like stepping on a cinderblock but the car is stopping hard - so normal) give it a week starts getting squishy but one pump restores that pedal.
Then give it a few more weeks and its halfway to the floor but still stops OK but no more pedal dropping or anything. Ive neverfound any external leaks and rear wheel cyl have been replaced twice now. At this point it stays and behaves like this for years...
Flash forward to today: wanted to install 83+ brakes. Got all the necessary items and went to town. No issues installing (besides some minor trimming of the dust shield but no biggie) Couldnt for the life of anythign get the right front banjo bolt crush washers to stop leaking. FINALLY got it stopped. Then came the next 5 hours of brake bleeding.
Tried everythign under the sun but keep finding air in the right rear and when you go to bleed the system. You can bleed it till theres no bubbles, switch to left rear and release a few bubbles but if you go back to the right rear more bubbls appear. front brakes never have air in them but pedal goes all the way to the floor except the last inch i have front brakes. If you rapidly pump them you start getting rear brakes and the pedal is higher but still squishy.Of course you find air in the rear brakes when you go to bleed them.
So what the hell does this mean?!?!? Only way i see air getting in is thru the backside of the master.
Ive thought about getting the highly recommended on here Delco master cyl- rock auto has em for $67 shipped to my door. AT my wits end here with this seemingly simple brake system!
