Nice to see some more recent diologue appearing on our site these days. Obviously you had retured to the U.K. before my time on the island, but I shouldn't of thought there was a lot of change in those days. Whilst I was there though, ( as already mentioned by others )we had an update of transmittion equipment. Went from the old metal cage box transmitters to Synthesisers and R.F. amps.Also had some new aerials ( V.L.P.A's if I remember )fitted onto two small outcrop jettys. One one by the Army field kitchen on the NAFFI road, and the other behind the pair of bungalows on the E.Pier side. It was awful when they were blasting the rocks for the jettys, thought our accomodation was going to fall down.
There is a possibility you might know a couple of the L.E.P's who were there with me, as they were there for "life". P.O. Chan and R.E.M. Chung Ping Kwong. These names might jog memorys of others reading this.
