Yes - agree that she needs to own up to that, apologize, offer up some explanation.

She probably won't, I'm sure her campaign knows it won't cost her any existing support or even have an effect on undecided voters.

If Trump is so knowledgeable on the subject, why didn't he refute that statement in real time? That would have been something he could really tout, but he was so unhinged he probably didn't even comprehend what she said.

A Defense Department spokesperson told PolitiFact that the U.S. is neither engaged in a war, nor has service members fighting in active war zones anywhere in the world.

"An aspect of military service includes serving in locations where hostile actions may occur," the Defense Department official said in a statement to PolitiFact. "Those locations are designated by executive order and/or the Secretary of Defense. However, it’s important to note that just because a service member is in one of these locations does not mean they are engaged in war."

But Harris’ inclusion of "combat zone" in that statement is misleading and experts said it significantly underplays the broader landscape of active duty military service abroad.

Tower 22 - a remote base in northeast Jordan near the Syrian border.

Tower 22 supports the Al-Tanf Garrison in southeastern Syria, where U.S. special operations have long operated in tandem with other countries in combating Islamic State militants. About 350 U.S. Army and Air Force personnel are deployed to the base.

The Pentagon on Monday released the identities of the three American service members killed Sunday by a drone strike in northeastern Jordan.

The three were identified as Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, 46, of Carrollton, Ga.; Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, 24, of Waycross, Ga.; and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 23, of Savannah, Ga.

Three service members killed, 40 wounded.

I don't for one minute believe it was intentionally misleading.

I believe she was trying to make the point that the U.S. is neither engaged in a war, nor has service members fighting in active war zones anywhere in the world. We should all be grateful for that.

Trump meanwhile has called American war dead "suckers" and "losers" and for purely political reasons said John McCain was no war hero because he was captured and was held as a prisoner of war. There are even more examples, but I'll leave at that for now.

Here is how I feel. Your party regarding John McCain has a tendency in your rhetoric to make John McCain a sacred cow only in the content to criticize Trump, its disgraceful.

I believe that every service member that spends time in a war zone, combat zone, or dangerously deployed is a hero. If they return home safely, if they are wounded, if they make the ultimate sacrifice, or if they are in captivity, they are all hero’s .

John McCain was very well liked and respected by Democrats and in a lot of ways he was the antithesis of Trump.

McCain's daughter, a very conservative Republican, hates Trump and his son announced he was voting for Harris. Trump wasn't invited to his funeral.

When McCain was running against Obama, a woman in the audience at a town hall stated to McCain that she didn't trust Obama because he was an Arab. This was at a time of the Trump initiated lies that Obama was not a US citizen. McCain set the woman straight as opposed to just letting her believe a lie about his opponent.

My point is, this war hero, a Republican who was liked and respected by both sides did not deserve to be disrespected this way. Yet, we expect that from Trump, who got a note from his father's tenant getting him out of service to our country.

Obama addressing the Country while watching the Ferguson riots stated, “it makes for some interesting television.”

you are correct on both accounts. If any military person is killed in a war, Police Action or in anyway when following their military duty they are a HERO.
When Trump says that the presidential Medal of freedom is more of an Honor then The Medal Of Honor it is total disrespect for all those who serve in the Military. Let alone his total trashing of McCain and calling military suckers and losers.

I'm not embarrassed by anything I've said.

Defending McCain as a hero against a coward who never served is in no way, shape, or form disrespecting him. If anything, it's highlighting the respect he and other war heroes deserve.

Perhaps you should be embarrassed by defending a man who has used, what you termed, "disdain" because of a lack of support for legislation Trump wanted... used that issue to attack his character and his service to our country.

The fact that Republicans turn a blind eye to this type of thing is a slap in the face to Veterans.

Shouldn’t she be doing the duties of VP .. maybe coming up with a policy and getting it implemented to lower costs. Then, when Trump takes office and his administration approves and fine tuning isn’t needed, it could continue.
