Drainage of water from pavement areas is critical for roadbed integrity. Undesirable vegetation along pavement edges can cause ponding on the roadway. Vegetation in drainage ditches can impede water flow and contribute to ponding in the ditch and on the travel way. Water ponding in the ditch can result in weakened sub grades and pavement failure.
