I would hope that there is some type of a hearing when someone is faced with this situation. If what has been reported in the media is correct and there is no recourse or way to appeal, I think this is unfair. You have someone who is renting to own and committed no crime herself. She obviously pays her rent on time if the landlord does not want to evict her and she has no control over what this kid did. I guess her only true crime is being kind hearted enough to let the kid stay with her family. The story I saw said she was actually the one that turned him in. I think the ordinance is a good one, but each case needs to be reviewed individually. People aren't exactly lining up to buy houses and live in Granite City. Maybe we don't know the full story, but I'm sure it will come out in court, unless the city settles out of court. I say good for her for bringing this lawsuit, that might the only outlet for justice she has.
