Every year on this night thousands pack the field at Coolidge and the surrounding areas to watch one of the best fireworks displays in southern Illinois.
Yes, on this night, the dirty little steel mill town that people from places like Edwardsville, Glen Carbon and Collinsville look down on suddenly becomes a good enough place to bring their families for entertainment.
Thank you to the park district and all involved with putting on this show. Now bring on the fireworks and Happy 4th everyone.
