You don't want to be there, get out and make more room for the kids who do. I agree in principle, but not in reality. It's washy argument my end, but educating your self, (or making sure your kids are educated) is a moral obligation more so than a right, and society should pressure people fulfill their more obligations. If 1/3 of all students dropped out because of disinterest, it would become very hard to find competent workers, and entrepreneurs. You have a better ability to learn when you are young than at any other point in your life, don't make it easy for people to rob both themselves, and society of such. And of course in my humble belief, bring back the paddle and eliminate some of the assclowns that behave the way they do just for the opportunity to be suspended. When I was in school (dark ages) our teachers used to pick out the real morons in the first week of school and light up their asses with a board. Behavior modification at it's finest. I'm actually not so against modest paddling for minor infractions, but I'm outnumbered, and a number of people who study it say it's bad for the kids. Paddling worked on me when I was younger. When I was in bootcamp, our instructors were not allowed to hit us, they had a number ways to bring the pain that were even better (for High School aged boys particularly) Like having to stay in down pushup position, chest off 1" the ground, for what seemed like 6 lifetimes. I don't think forcing them to exercise, in a manner like that is against the law (yet).
