OP2- your compassion for these kids is overwhelming -- home school them because they aren't "normal"? --- I guess back in your day they put children with Down Syndrome in institutions.
While I strongly disagree with your characterization of these kids and how to treat them, I do think the best approach to handling the bathroom/locker room situation is to have gender neutral bathrooms and changing/showering areas.
I'm assuming that most, if not all, transgender kids have not undergone reassignment surgery and still have their original equipment. I don't think it's acceptable to have kids put in a situation where they must undress or shower with someone with opposing equipment.
