In our community anyone who makes more than $100,000 is either considered a crook, lazy, etc... On the other hand in professional communities such as Edwardsville, Try, Highland, if you make $100,000 or less, someone wants to help you with a fundraiser. It's all relative to what your profession is and what you earn.
Probably why very few if any professional people live in our community these days.
As for the port, it's a big entity but it's bigger now because the feds gave away all of the old Melvin Price Support Center including housing, warehouses, a golf course and restaurant, roads, etc... They've used those properties to increase revenues and to leverage debt. I'm not saying it's not a great business to have in the tri city community. It's just been given a major boost.
