The difference imo is that cities like Ofallon, Fairview Heights, Edwardsville, and Collinsville have ample areas to expand. Nameoki Road only has places for small bussinesses and the same is true for old downtown. Granite City lacks large areas to expand there are too many houses surrounding the business areas. Old homes around Nameoki and Maryville need to be knocked down for business expansion. And the one main street Nameoki is way to congested for the amount of traffic not to mention the bus riders walking in front of cars. Its a no win unless everyone decides to turn Granite City around. Its a shame. They have done a really nice job on Route three but the clientelle at those stores have run off customers and I recently talked to xemployees of businesses on rte 3 and they have left their jobs fearing problems that are coming from NONresidents of Granite City. Business expansion number one rule location location. Pray that Granite City does not look like Collinsville WalMart with the seven police car line up waiting to arrest around Christmas yes it could be better but take it from Collinsville it can get worse much worse very soon.
