It's not a Granite City based site. It's called Topix and it has different links for different cities. I'd never been on it until last week...when the daughter of my boss called to tell me my name was on there.
I can't even begin to tell you how AWFUL that site is. Some of the people post such horrible, horrible things. The ONLY good thing is that Topix removes reported posts in a somewhat timely fashion.
Allow me to tell you how my week has been. I have been on that site daily, looking to see what new things I have to report. They have listed my name, my place of employment, and libelous comments. They have attacked my looks, my character, my integrity, and my education.
The little sleep I am getting is plagued with nightmares. I haven't truly enjoyed or tasted meals in a week. I am terrified to be alone at work (after all, these idiots not only posted where I am employed, but also that my morals are lacking). My self-esteem has taken a plunge. I cry at minor mishaps. It's funny what one week can do to a person.
While I rarely post on this or any forum, what I have seen on here is far different than what Topix allows to be posted. This exact post on that site would be immediately attacked.
