But this is the physical world, and it is not the reality. We put so much emphasis on it because it's all the physical mind can perceive.
But this is the very point I was trying to make with the disciples. Their belief and hope was in Jesus who they knew for certain either did or did not rise form the dead.
The hope or knowledge of life after the "physical" world was what they were claiming to know existed from the resurrection. If they knew for certain that Jesus did not rise from the dead why would they continue preaching to the great detriment of both their physical and mental well being?
That is the point - the reason it does make sense is because they (the disciples) knew for sure whether their personal testimony was true or false. Why die for something untrue when the whole point of not caring if you die is if you are certain of what comes after? If that after is uncertain would you still care if you died? Or would the after have to be solidified in your understanding first?
