first of all...if you think that i am the only person who thinks GC is a historically racist town that still has some of those sentiments lingering, you are a blind fool. is it different than when i was a kid? yes. but has it changed THAT much? not really.
who can link any specific charges brought up or crimes committed from this part of the park? i know some young kids would sometimes fight...i do not doubt some criminals visited there at times...
but was there extensive evidence that crime was rising? or was there simply a PERCEPTION that crime was rising? if it was just a perception, what caused it?
we know the crowd was mostly black people. we know GC has a racist history which still to some extent lingers. we know there has always been punk kids bumming in the park, and rude things said to people who walk by the trail.
i propose that it was merely perception because, again, historically this same perception led to the cause of many laws being passed which persecuted blacks in the past.
i am just curious if anyone can cite anything specific. i am not saying you people are wrong - this is just my view. all i hear is "it was becoming unsafe" or "something had to be done, and this was the best option."
was it drugs? was it gang violence? to what extent can it be proven that these things are true, and how does this remedy the problem? i am not saying that i know for certain...i just question the motives, certainty of others, and actions taken by the park to remedy the problem.
