I would like to propose that government allow any two people to enter into a "civil union" which shall be equivalent in rights to "marriage" as it is today in the eyes of the law today. Replace the legal term "marriage" with the legal term "civil union" Any consenting adult may enter into into a civil union with one other person at a time. This union is to be viewed as a legal business arrangement, with no concern made to the individuals sex, existing relationships, love, or any other concept typically involved in a traditional marriage. It is a mere business decision. Marriage, being a religious institution, should be conducted by churches, clergy, monks, or your mom should you wish. As 'government should make no laws respecting an establishment of a religion. People seem to be best when paired with another, be it a friend, existing family member, or what have you. It is hard to make it out there all by your self. Most people, are healthier when they share there lives with another person, helping to share the load. Leave the "Moral" aspects of a marriage to the church. Leave the ethical aspects of a pair bond to the law. Say my ugly aunt Edna and Flow, who are way to nasty looking to ever find a guy to love them, wanted to share there lives together. Why should we stop them. Why even put a concept like a sexual love into the equation.
