We worked opposite shifts when our sons were little so we could both be "at home parents"...both hubby and I shared responsibilities and I feel the kids got the best of both worlds meaning they were taken care of and spent time with each parent equally. Both of us cleaned house, shopped, cooked and did everything else that is done when running a household with kids....They are young men now and we no longer have the need to work opposite shifts for their benefit. I think by both of us keeping our careers and taking care of the kids together we have become a very close knit family and the kids grew up spending a lot of time with their parents on a daily basis. I know this arrangement isn't for everyone but it does work with determination and effort. I think its good for moms to be home with their kids but at the same time I feel its also good for dads to be home with their kids. So we created the best of both worlds!
