"JFK and the Unspeakable: Why He Died & Why It Matters" by James Douglass is a great book on the topic.
if you only see JFK - and not the big picture i have laid out.......then i do not know what to tell you.
you are going off on tangeants about 9-11 and obama - i am simply stating a basic point which logically is easy to follow...
those with power, those with the money and guns - will fight to keep their power. it is a thought which transcends all pre-conceived notions...it is common sense. if someone seeks to dismantle or reduce that power - those with power lash back. it is a constant struggle that ALL nations experience.
but in this country we were built deprived of fear - we were born of conspiracy and distrust for the throne - and we sought to keep the power in the hands of the people - we sought to maintain our love for liberty rather than our fear of tyranny...and we have grown to a huge size which our founding fathers likely never could have imagined.
our government wages war, and we have no voice. many of us want peace - and know only war.
i have MANY MANY MANY friends and relatives in the military. i do not hate them, i do not blame them as many of them are there out of necessity...they are raising their families and earning a check. it is a job and to those close to me i can understand that...
there is a little part of me which is sad - because they support the machine - but i understand why they do...our country gives them little option. i maintain respect for the warrior - just not the war.
...
you wanted an example of the government silencing people? you think i am the first and only person to highlight this and explore it?
here is one example - the focal point of my thesis...of the FBI killing people to maintain their power.
if you look - you will find it. it is out there. most people just do not care - THEY FLY A FLAG FROM THEIR FRONT PORCH AND BLINDLY SAY "SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!" - they think our nation, or military, and those with power would never use it against us...they think we are the greatest and most honest nation on the face of the planet.
i love my country - and that means more to me - because i have seen the ugly side of her...and i still love her.
do i maintain faith in the american people? yes. do i think we love liberty? yes.
do i think we will see the day our military reduces its own size? never...the small cuts obama made to the military are simply not enough.
just imagine - or try to at least - an america without at least a 3 trillion dollar annual budget in defense (that number excluding war appropiations and nation-building.)
Officially yes, do you really believe that though? I don't, I believe we are in the early stages of another cold war.
and you accuse my supposition as comparible to a Russel's Teapot?
yes i honestly do believe that.
and i honestly do believe that our government is protecting the size and budget of our military. they have and will kill those who threaten their power, they will silence those who stand up to them and can actually do something.
i am an educator - i am a historian - and i am simply observing these facts - not out on the streets trying to rally people to fight them. my job is to make people think about them and form their own opinions viewing the same things i have viewed.
i am not a threat - but i might be monitored by the FBI for my remarks and what i studied in college.
if i could obtain some power, and i stood to oppose our military - do you think our government would not at the VERY least spy on me??? if you think not - look at the details of the patriot act. why does the government want google to give them their search results?
freedom of information act has done alot to prove that we are spied upon. dissent has always been snuffed out and silenced - from McCarthyism to MANY socialist groups - to the black panthers - to anyone seeking to disturb their power.
does the military impact your wallet? yes. would taxes go down if we reduced the size of our military? yes.
is our economy partially propped up by our dependence of war? i think so. imagine if we loved peace - and did not try to police the globe? how many soldiers would lose their job?
