It is true we came a long way, but where we have come was not without toil and insisting on workers' rights. Maybe a dockworker has to put on a brace before heavy lifting. Maybe a cop has to have a bullet proof vest. Maybe the firemen always have to have their oxygen masks tested. It's more than just the 40 hour week and protecting what seems to be people that others call 'overpaid.' Who will be able to demand safe working condition, many of which are implemented industrywide to even protect those who are non-union. Lose collective bargaining - and those protections are toast.
