- Yes - death row is costly and families of victims have to go through a long process of legal wrangling and appeals and the like. They are told the guy is going to die and they wait a number of years. Give the killer life without parole and the healing process can begin immediately without all of this costly court wrangling.
The death penalty is not a deterrent to malicious crime. I don't say that, the facts do. Look at murder rates where there is no death penalty and in states where there are. The only state without the death penalty that's in the top 20 is Michigan. I have a feeling that even a Texas style justice would still not do Detroit much good.
Fix the system correctly. SB3539 will do just that!
