I could live with a flat income tax, or a somewhat progressive tax, as long as everyone paid in and nobody was refunded more than they paid through deductions. Though I think my idea is fairer, you idea would probably be more likely to pass and still a move towards complete fairness. I think a consumption tax could achieve what you think is fair, if certain items were not taxed, such as food, housing, and medical expenses. My logic comes from the simple fact that the more you consume, the more income you generally have, therefore the wealthier do pay more. Obviously you spend more on bathroom cleaner if you have a four bathroom home than a one bathroom home. I don't agree with you, but I sure don't think your wrong.
