i think id have to choose execution.whats the point in livin life locked up without ever havin possibility of freedom? Because I thin it is a more serious punishment than the death penalty. Also I do not believe people should rot in prison. I believe that there is a number of jobs that could be performed in service to the state that will not displace a single legal resident from his or her job. We have crumbling infrastructure, for cryin' out loud. We have dirty streets. I think it would be great to have a lifer clean the street near by the area where he or she did the shooting. Now if would victimize the family it ought to be done somewhere else. But if it was a street murder - it might be something to have that person clean the street he or she polluted. I am all for severe punishment that is not cruel or unusual. I do not believe our tax dollars should support people who rot in prison. I believe a cheaper option than death penalty or life without parole is life without parole and working. Maybe the dangerous criminals can't be out in a ball in chain - but paying to clothe, feed and medicate a person who does nothing does not sit well with me. But nothing sits worse with me than execution. But get those people working. They should be the ones who clean up streets, clean out sewers - and give them manual labor that most free people of legal citizenship would not want to do. Sheriff Joe almost had it right, but I don't agree with all of his shenanigans either. But I do agree with the basic premise that the cost per inmate can be trimmed significantly. Privileges in a prison should be just that, and they should be earned.
