I think the two outcomes are far radically different. Funny how you can say in one breath that 'Wow dee we finally agree on something' and then argue that it serves as no deterrent. At least with good discipline practices in the home, most of the time these practices never have to be used. I know growing up, I'd be unlucky to get it perhaps once a year or so, very rarely. I didn't need it, but I knew it was possible for it to happen. Fearing a potential paddling is different. Because there is a 'making good' on the actions that were committed, there is a returning to a loving relationship with parents. With the death penalty - there is no type of correction or mercy involved, and it also does not deter crime. My mistake for mixing the two. They are two different areas altogether. Corporal punishment by loving parents is done with love to restore the children back to good practices. Capital punishment just says the person is a scumbag and needs to die, no restoration needed or necessary. Corporal punishment for adults - now that might be a good thing, so that the poor kids don't seem to get the short end of the dea - like that guy in Singapore who got caned, now we might be on to something. At least with that, there is a return to society, where someone is sure to correct their mannerisms. Save the labels like Candy Ass Opi. You're always digging for the ad hominem.
