What I didn't like, were that there were numerous kids participating in the parade that were literally throwing the candy AT the kids on the side of the road instead of toward the ground. There were adults walking beside these children and continued to allow these children to pelt candy at the bystanders.

Also, what is the point of the kids lining up on the side of the road to get candy that is thrown to them, if the parents of said kids allow them to get the candy in front of them, and go after candy that is thrown in front of other children? My children were lined up, and I have always taught my children to get what is thrown in front of them. That if it is thrown in front of another child or children, it is theirs. The woman next to us had three children there and continually allowed her children, in which two of the three were clearly older than my children, to come over in front of my kids and take the candy that was thrown to them.

After watching this for over half of the parade, I got sick of this continuing to happen, so I told my children to do the same thing to them. These children sure didn't like it once they had to deal with the same treatment that they had been doing to mine.
