The Right is pushing the narrative that the shutdown is because:

The Left is pushing for "a $1.5 trillion spending spree that funds healthcare for illegal immigrants" that is a direct quote from a Republican politician and is the standard talking point they are using to blame the Left for the shutdown.

That is extremely misleading at best, a flat out lie in my opinion. MAGA loyalists will believe it.

Someone in the U.S. illegally cannot sign up for "Obamacare" or Medicaid and the Left is not proposing that they should be able to. They want to extend the subsidies that lower and middle income people can use to make healthcare within their reach. Normal, everyday Americans who are legal US citizens. NOT undocumented folks.

The Right will point to the fact that, by Federal Law, hospitals cannot refuse emergency treatment to anyone who does not have insurance or cannot afford to pay. If hospitals could not get some Medicaid reimbursement for this emergency treatment they could be come insolvent or shut down Emergency Departments.

The Right's refusal to extend these subsidies are going to result in premiums going up or even skyrocketing for everyone with Healthcare.

Blame whoever you want for the shutdown, but don't believe the lies being told by MAGA.
