...for the Nepalese monarchy ever since Crown Prince Dipendra went berserk and massacred his entire family,including his father King Birendra,in June 2001.It was always difficult to see how the monarchy could recover from that terrible blow.It would have taken a really strong,clever and capable man to have been able to restore confidence in the monarchy after such an appalling event but,unfortunately,King Gyanendra was not such a man.Hence the monarchy was doomed.

It is sad for royalty lovers to have to witness the demise of yet another of the few remaining monarchies in the world.I just hope the new republic of Nepal will be able to bring a lasting peace to that tormented country!
