I know that this is a little off subject, but I wanted to add my 2 cents to the conversation. I have applied to the AA program at Nova. However, 18 years ago I was in OT school with 3 children under 6 years old. It was very difficult but I had my parents and my ex husband's help with the children. I had a couple of very good classmates that would come to my home at 10pm at night, and we would study for about 4 hours together for 3 long and tiresome semesters. I made it through. I always sought out community resources.. Food stamps, low income housing, free day care programs, campus nontraditional resources to make it work. I had to leave my children with the ex for about 6 months while I did my internship out of state. The program was for 2.5 years. If you have perseverance then I have no doubt that you will make it work. Just think out of the box.
I know that the AA program will be just as difficult. The trick is to anticipate what barriers you may have and resolve them before you get there. For example, Ft lauderdale is a very expensive town to live, use the child as an asset, contact the income restricted apt where your rent on a two bedroom is about 600.00 per month instead of 1200.00. They are usually very nice apt just lower cost. Also, check out Nova's campus daycare and at some hospitals they have 24 hour daycare see if you can access the daycare on the nights you need the help.
Ok, I have talked enough. If you would like any other information just email me at Btalkingsister@yahoo.com, I will be happy to give you ideas.
